She has arrived!

Bright and early on Sunday, August 23, 2015, Tineke entered our lives weighing 7lbs 14oz and measuring 20.5 inches. She came out squirming and hasn't stopped since. This girl is a mover and shaker! She captured our hearts immediately! Tineke was named in honour of Shayne's grandma, who passed away last November - her name was Tintje but she went by Tina here in Canada. Our girl goes by both Tina and Tineke, depending on our mood. She also goes by "oh my baby", "fusspot", "persnickety", "adorababy", and much more. ;)

Today she is one month old! How is my baby already a month old? Where have these last four weeks gone? Days roll into nights and life goes from one feeding to the next.

We have had many visitors in and out of the house in the last month, including my parents (Oma & Opa) for almost two weeks. It has been so nice to have extra hands around, especially experienced ones! Grammie spent a lot of time here in the beginning as well. Because of her, we were finally able to get some sleep on day four. Shayne & I agree that we've never appreciated our parents more.

She's my first, so I can't say for sure, but I think she's a fairly easy baby. She eats every 2.5-3 hours during the day, and at night she does a 4 hour stretch followed by a 3 hour stretch, most of the time. She doesn't want to miss out on anything during the day (like her parents!) so she fights sleep. We have a swing that she will usually nap in during the morning but its magic doesn't work in the afternoon all that often. Afternoon naps are induced by a long cuddle session with mama (I'm not complaining!) and don't last too long. Evenings are fussy, but the more she fusses, the longer she sleeps when she finally passes out.

Shayne hasn't been able to spend much time with Tineke as the farm got busy shortly after she was born. It makes me sad that he is missing out on her life, but that's just the reality of having a baby at the beginning of harvest season! It melts my heart when he does get to hang out with her. She definitely recognizes his voice and she gave him some of her first (likely gassy) smiles! One night we had about a half hour of awake time where Tina was content and Shayne & I were able to play with her - and honestly, I think we spent half the time just staring at this adorable little creature that God gave us.

One of our Tina's biggest accomplishments came as quite a surprise - both to us and to her! She rolled herself over on the change table at 2.5 weeks!! I didn't catch it on camera, but she did push herself up on her hands and knees for a few seconds. Crazy lady!

Baby girl makes so many silly faces. She definitely fits in with her parents! ;)

We were privileged to have Tineke baptized on September 13. She slept through the whole service! So thankful. I was stressed about it because she cries a lot when she's awake. Thankfully Oma worked her magic and baby girl slept peacefully!

I'll leave you with this one - so much cute in one shot. :)

Hot off the hook: Lamb hats

Alright, they're kind of lamb hats. I like to think of them more as bobble hats - and adorable ones at that. I grabbed the pattern from one of my favourite crochet websites: Repeat Crafter Me. She's a whiz with a hook and her patterns are so easy to follow!

This particular pattern can be found here:
