living by the sea: the dining room & kitchen

Last time, we took a peek at the rooms down the hall in our home by the sea. Today, we're looking at what my dining room and kitchen used to look like!

This carpet - ugly, right? Well, when you flipped up the rug, there was a clear indicator that the carpet used to be brown, not greenish yellow. Still, the room is a good size!

The kitchen hasn't changed - except a coat of paint on the walls and a good scrubbing from ceiling to floor. I have plans to paint the cupboards, but my husband and I can't agree on what colour. I want to go white (and replace the counter tops) but he likes dark cupboards. We may end up leaving it until we get to Phase 2 of our renovations in a few years.

Did you see that sliver of a glimpse of our living room? We'll check it out the next time. It's one of my favourite places to be, now that it's undergone renovations!

  1. Oh, paint it!! The process will be tiresome, but when it's done, I'm quite sure you won't regret it. Especially if a reno is a few years away! And there's always the option of white uppers and dark lowers. Compromise. ;)

    1. Oh, Jen! Why didn't I think of that compromise? Such a great idea. We will be repainting the kitchen this summer anyway since I don't like the colour I chose, so that's a great time to work on the cupboards, too. Right now I'm thinking...stain the lowers and paint the uppers. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
