Remembering visitors past

Once upon a time, moving far from home meant saying goodbye forever to loved ones, friends, and family members. But in this modern age we are able to easily hop on a plane and within a few hours, go back and forth between home and away!

As the holidays approach, I am realizing how strange it will be to have all of my Ontario people so far away this Christmas (I'm staying on the Island - first Christmas away from home!) It's nice to be able to welcome visitors to the Island - and there have been many over the last couple years. And some more than once! and one very special visitor who has visited 5 times!

So thankful for the many memories that each of these pictures hold!

Feeling Crafty: I crocheted an afghan.

I started this afghan many moons ago on a whim. I had been invited to a friend's house for an evening of handwork and didn't have a project on the go. So after taking a quick peak at an idea book, I began to crochet my little heart out.

After putting it down and picking it up again a few times, I settled into my comfy spot on the couch for a weekend when Shayne was away for a wedding and got everything assembled!

(Sorry for the horrible picture quality, this is a very old shot from a crummy camera!)
I couldn't tell you what my stitch pattern is for the squares if I's been that long. The edging is an easy scallop stitch though and you can find that here.

Well, what do you think? It is certainly bright and cheery! Now to decide just where to display so much colour...
